Kroonstad highway patrol members arrest four for stolen copper

Kroonstad Highway patrol members continue with efforts to stop infrastructure damage as they arrest 4 with copper.

The morning of Saturday 15 July 2023 at about 07:00, Highway patrol members were on patrol on the N1 near Kroonstad when they saw a suspicious white Ford Ranger. Members tried to stop the bakkie but the suspects sped away. The vehicle took the off-ramp to Koppies and was blocked near a known petrol garage.

3 suspects were ordered to alight from the vehicle and cut copper cables were found loaded in the back. All four were arrested for possession of suspected stolen property. Further information took members to Vredefort road where one suspect was allegedly found waiting for the arrival of the 3 arrested suspects. The 56-year-old driving a Renault Sandero was arrested for conspiracy to commit a crime.

All four suspects will appear in the Kroonstad Magistrate court soon for possession of suspected stolen goods and conspiracy to commit a crime.
