Suspects face charges of illegal possession of ammunition and a hijacked vehicle

Members of Operation Restore deployed in the Mitchell’s Plain policing precinct as a result of the ongoing gang violence in the area, arrested a 26-year-old man for the illegal possession of ammunition in Mayfair Close, Portlands on Sunday evening. The members followed up on information about a vehicle that was involved in a shooting incident earlier. The vehicle was stopped and searched upon which ten rounds of ammunition with two magazines were found in the vehicle.

The suspect will appear in the Mitchell’s Plain Magistrates court once he has been charged.

An integrated operation between Maitland Flying Squad, the Air wing and the K9 Unit landed three suspects aged 28, 42 and 44 behind bars when they were arrested for the possession of a hijacked vehicle in Athlone on Monday afternoon. The members followed up information about the vehicle that was driving in the Athlone area. The vehicle was stopped and the suspects were arrested.

They will appear in the Athlone Magistrates courts once they have been charged.
