Two suspects arrested who were allegedly involved in the killing of a community leader in Mahwelereng

The Provincial Commissioner of South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has highly praised a team led by Deputy Provincial Commissioner reposiblle for Crime Detection Major General Samuel Manala for ultimately managing to arrest two suspects aged 36 and 40 allegedly involved in a murder of Piet Pale (50) a Community Leader at Mahwelereng in June 2014.

According to information, the deceased was shot and fatally wounded while driving his vehicle at Hospital View, Mahwelereng at around 21:00 on 28 June 2014.

The Police were alerted about the murder incident and manhunt immediately ensued. Preliminary investigations then revealed that the deceased was allegedly murdered under circumstances that were unclear then.

A high Level Team of investigators dealing with Political killings in Waterberg District was ordered to track, trace and arrest the suspects.

Following thorough investigations the suspects were linked to the murder case and were arrested on Monday, 24 July 2023.

“We will continue to hit hard on criminals and stamp our authority as Police. I’ am grateful that our investigators managed to crack this case. The wheel of justice is surely turning without fail, Hi ta “Kukula,” Bhansa Nse,” said Lieutenant General Hadebe.

The suspects will appear before Mahwelereng Magistrate’s Court on 25 July 2023 facing charges of Conspiracy to commit murder, murder, possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

The Police investigations are still ongoing.
