Police members made their presence felt when they conducted high density patrols in various policing precincts on Saturday 12 August 2023, resulting in the arrest of three males on charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition and the possession of drugs.
Police members attached to Operation Restore deployed in Delft pursued information of dealing in drugs. The platoon proceeded to an address in Gatwick Street in the Hague. Upon arrival at the address they saw cash and a consignment of drugs on the table in the living room, already packaged and ready for distribution. They arrested and detained a 59-year-old man on charges of dealing in drugs and resisting an arrest.
Meanwhile police members were conducting high density patrols and stop and search operations in Nyanga policing precinct. They spotted a suspicious white Toyota Hilux and brought the vehicle to a halt, searched the vehicle and the driver, and confiscated a 9mm pistol with ammunition. They arrested and detained the 19-year-old suspect on a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
In an unrelated incident police members conducted an intelligence driven operation in Strand. The members were tactically deployed in the area close to 8th Street when they spotted the motor vehicle that fitted the description of the suspicious vehicle. The driver of the motor vehicle appeared to be extremely surprised why he was stopped by the police members.
