One male suspect was arrested by the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) IIOC Undercover Reaction Unit for discharging a firearm in a public place and handling a firearm while under the influence of a substance that has an intoxicating effect in Troyeville.
On Sunday, 20 August 2023, whilst patrolling along Albertina Sisulu Road and Betrams Road officers noticed a male discharging a firearm in the air. The officers tactically approached the male and asked him why he was discharging the firearm. The male indicated that he was attempting to frighten people.
The officers noticed that the male was reeking alcohol. He was immediately breathalyzed and his results were 0,69mg/l, which proved that he was under the influence of alcohol.
The male was arrested and detained at Jeppe SAPS. His licensed firearm was seized and booked in at the police station.
