Two business robbery suspects apprehended at Senwabarwana

The police in Senwabarwana have arrested two suspects aged 29 and 33 for business robbery incident, that took place at Milbank Tuckshop , Capricorn District on Tuesday, 29 August 2023 at around 13:00.

According to reports, the suspects went to the victim’s shop and pretended to be interested in buying.

They left without buying and moments later returned. They allegedly fired a shot at the shop through the burglar door and instructed shopkeeper to open. They also assaulted him and demanded money at a gun point. A cellphone and an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen from the cash register and storeroom.

They then fled the scene driving a grey VW Passat. It appears that Community members heard gun shots and mobilised. They spotted suspects driving from the scene and gave chase. The suspect’s vehicle was involved in an accident while still at the area and allegedly community cornered and attacked the suspects.

The Police were alerted about the incident and quickly arrived at the scene with Emergency Services personnel. The two suspects who were seriously injured were arrested for business robbery immediately taken to local hospital under Police guard.

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Themb’s Hadebe has welcomed the arrest and reiterated the call to community members to refrain from taking the law into their own hands. “They are allowed to act on ‘citizen’s arrest’ but they must not harm suspects.”

The suspects will soon appear before Senwabarwana Magistrate’s Court facing business robbery case. The Police investigations are still continuing.
