An unlicensed firearm recovered, and a 23-year-old perpetrator was arrested in the Vosloorus area

Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Specialised Task Team (STT) and other stakeholders arrested a 23-year-old male suspect for possession of an unlicensed firearm, in the Vosloorus area.

Officers received information from a whistleblower about an individual committing various offences in the community using a firearm. Members visited a residence on Mathebela Street, where a 23-year-old male was found in possession of a black Glock 17 with defaced serial numbers. The officers proceeded to check with the control room and the firearm was found to be unlicensed.

The offender was immediately arrested and taken to Vosloorus police station, facing charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm.

He is expected to appear at the Vosloorus Magistrate’s Court soon.
