Four accused to appear in court for double murder at a guest house

The four people, accused of alleged murder of a couple at the guest house in Tseki, have been arrested on 28 August 2023 and made their first appearance in Tseki Magistrate’s Court and they are again to re-appear in the same court on Wednesday, 06 September 2023 for formal bail application.

The four suspects were arrested as a result of intelligence that was operationalized by Phuthaditjhaba Crime Intelligence Unit. A firearm believed to have been used in the alleged crime has been confiscated.

The accused, Themba Mlangeni (40), Mandela Makoe (47), Madala Mokoena (41) and a family member of the deceased, Lawulani Mthombeni (40), have all been charged and are set to make their second appearance in court.

It’s alleged that on 03 July 2023 at about 03:30, the security guard was on duty at the guard room when he heard gunshots at the guest house and went to inspect. In the room, he found the bodies of a 35-year-old man, Daniel Kgahlisi (boyfriend) and a 20-year-old woman, Tshegofatso Mthombeni (girlfriend) in a pool of blood.

The police were informed about the incident and attended the crime scene. It was discovered that the two known deceased sustained fatal gunshot wounds, while another sustained wounds on the head, arm and shoulder. The motive behind the killing is not yet known. Police investigations continue in this case of double murder continues.
