Scholars from Trenance Park Secondary School in Trenance Park – KZN were stoning vehicles and preventing educators entrance onto the property.
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were dispatched after receiving reports of the protest and stoning of vehicles. Educators were also being prevented from entering the premises. On arrival, Reaction Officers met with the Verulam SAPS who were also in attendance.
Several hundred pupils from Grade 8 to Grade 12 as well as parents were protesting following the arrest of four pupils. The arrests were executed by Detectives from the Verulam SAPS following the murder of a man who robbed a scholar for a cellphone last week.
Pupils apprehended the suspect and assaulted him. He later demised in hospital. It is alleged that the mob attack was captured by one of the students on their cellphone and shared on social media.
Law Enforcement Officers addressed the protesters and dispersed the unruly crowd.
