A suspect was apprehended for possession of an unlicensed firearm, ammunition and illegal erected structures demolished in the Putfontein areas

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Bronberg Precinct Officers arrested a 36-year-old male suspect for possession of unlicensed firearm and rounds of ammunition and demolished illegal erected structures in the Putfontein area.

The EMPD Officers were busy with their normal duties at Durant Road when they stopped a suspicious looking white Ford Ranger and ask the occupants including the driver to search them. The passenger in the white Ford Ranger cooperated with the officers while the driver resisted at first, eventually he cooperated, and he was found with a firearm 9mm Beretta with seven 7 rounds of ammunitions with its serial number still intact.

The driver was asked to produce the firearm licensed and he could not do so. The driver was immediately arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm, he alleges that the firearm is for protecting him and his vehicle.

Whilst at High Road illegal erected structures were removed, some traders were found to be illegally trading and were issued with notices. At Elem Road traders found not complying were moved, while others produced their trading permits.
As the EMPD we urge all traders to obtain their trading permits and operate within the ambit of the law.
