Suspect arrested for armed robbery and assault in Braamfontein, Johannesburg

A 40-year-old male was arrested by the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) IIOC Undercover Reaction

Unit for armed robbery and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm (GBH) in Braamfontein, Johannesburg.

On Tuesday, 19 September 2023, officers deployed on crime prevention duties around Joubert Park and surrounding areas heard a scream and saw a male being chased by another male with a knife in hand.

Whilst being chased the victim fell along Koch and King George Street. The officers immediately swooped and restrained the man with the knife.

The victim was rushed to Hillbrow Clinic. The suspect was arrested and taken to Hillbrow SAPS for detention. It was later discovered that the suspect was attempting to rob the victim.
