Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department engages with community on human trafficking and gender-based violence

On Thursday 21 September 2023 between 09:00 and 11:00, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Social Crime Prevention Unit (SCPU) Officers, visited Emaphupheni and Mayfield Extension 46 to engage members of the community, in human trafficking and gender-based violence (GBV) talks , in the Etwatwa and Daveyton areas.

This outreach program, which was conducted jointly with other stakeholders, is aimed at addressing community members, on human trafficking. Discussions on how mothers must be on the lookout, for perpetrators and how to prevent becoming victims of human trafficking, also by leaving their children with strangers, were tabled. Furthermore, Officers shared information on support groups, who could assist with issues in relation to gender-based violence (GBV) and shared knowledge, on community safety and how to seek help, while community members waited in queues, at the local health care centres.

The EMPD will stop at nothing to foster good relationships with community members, for the betterment of society.
