EMPD continues public engagement on safety awareness

Between Saturday 30 September and Sunday 01 October 2023, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Social Crime Prevention Unit (SCPU) Officers engaged community members of Chris Hani Extension 3 and Mayfield Extension 9 on crime awareness and domestic violence, in the Daveyton area.

With summer at our doorstep, the EMPD saw it fit to intensify operations pertaining to social crime prevention to keep residents of the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) safe. The community of Chris Hani Extension 3 and Mayfield Extension 9 became beneficiaries of such engagement, as topics such as domestic violence, crime reporting, and crime prevention were discussed at length. A stern focus was placed on child neglect, as parents play a pivotal role in raising children as neglect becomes high during summer because parents go out during the summer’s festivities.

The EMPD will continue to render support to communities, assisting in curbing crime and addressing issues of child neglect.
