Potlako Petunia Goue (38), Wu Jianchu (53) and Jeremiah Selaelo Mothaga (62) appeared in the Rustenburg Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 11 October 2023, for alleged contravention of the National Credit Act, 2005 (Act No 34 of 2005).
The accused were arrested in Mogwase on Tuesday, 10 October 2023, during a joint operation between the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation Unit, South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) and National Credit Regulator (NCR). They were arrested at their respective business premises.
Bank cards, ID books, SASSA cards and money were seized during the operation.
All three appeared in court and were released on bail. Jianchu was granted R 3000 bail, while Mothaga and Goue were each granted R2000. Their cases were postponed to 12 December 2023 for further investigation.
