R7,2 million of drugs uncovered after fatal crash between delivery vehicles on the N1 between Three Sisters and Richmond

On Saturday, 28 October 2023 Beaufort West police confiscated a large consignment of drugs with an estimated street value of R7,2 million on the N1 between Three Sisters and Richmond near Murraysburg.

Police responded to an accident where two delivery trucks collided when they discovered 25 000 mandrax tablets, 17 kilogram of tik and 3 bags with cocaine in the luggage compartment of one of the vehicles. The driver of the truck, which was travelling from Johannesburg to Cape Town, sustained serious injuries and was declared deceased by paramedics on scene.

The circumstances surrounding the discovery of the drugs are under investigation by Western Cape Provincial Detectives.
