The Police in Rooiberg have launched a manhunt for unknown suspects following a poaching incident of two Rhinos on Monday, 30 October 2023 at Pomo Estate in Waterberg District.
According to the information available at this stage, it is alleged that the complainant has last saw his rhinos on Sunday, 29 October 2023 at about 09:20 in the morning without noticing anything suspicious.
It is alleged that on Monday 30 October 2023 at about 09: 35, the complainant received a phone call from his employee informing him of suspicious foot prints found on the farm and upon checking around there was no fence cut. Upon proceeding to the rhino camp, they discovered two rhinos shot and killed with their horns removed.
The circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated and the case docket of Rhino Poaching is being allocated to the Stock Theft and Endangered Species Unit for further handling.
