Thief caught stripping cables in Port Shepstone.
Yesterday, Fidelity Services Group received information on the Umtentweni CPF WhatsApp group regarding three males who were busy stripping cables on the railway line close to the Port Shepstone Country Club.
Umtentweni CPF members, Fidelity ADT and SIU, the SAPS dog unit and other security partners immediately responded. The suspects were tracked on the railway line towards Batstones low-level bridge. When spotted, they ran into the bushes towards the Umzimkulu River.
The area was blocked off by all involved, and suspects were then tracked along the river towards Batstones. One suspect was found in the bush and admitted to stealing the cables. The other two suspects managed to get away. Some of the stolen cable was also recovered.
The suspect was handed over to SAPS Port Shepstone dog unit. We applaud all teams involved, great team effort!
