Unlicensed firearms with ammunition were confiscated and six apprehended in Vosloorus

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Specialised Task Team (STT) Members, arrested six (6) suspects and unregistered firearms with ammunition, were confiscated inside the Mazulwini Hostel in Vosloorus.

The eye hawked EMPD Members, received an intel from the National Crime intelligence office, about wanted dangerous suspects, involved in multiple killings down in the KwaZulu Natal (KZN) province, seen entering the Mazulwini hostel, situated in Vosloorus area. Officers responded and the sought six (6), found inside a white Toyota Siyaya minibus taxi, parked inside the hostel, were cornered and the search was conducted.

A 9mm Luger pistol with visible serial numbers, the 9mm Lorcin parabellum with engraved serial numbers and a 9mm Girsan pistol, with serial numbers filed off and three (3) magazines from each firearm, including thirty-nine (39) live rounds, were seized. Five (5) males between the ages of 32 and 51, with the 37-year-old female, facing charges of ‘possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition’ who failed to produce permits on request, were handcuffed and marched to the Vosloorus police station.

The half dozen, are expected to appear at the Vosloorus Magistrate’s Court soon and confiscated firearms, were booked in for ballistics tests. Thorough investigations are continuing.
