Mi7 National Group’s Emergency Medical Services was dispatched to Torwood Road in Hayfields after reports that a man was stung repeatedly by a swarm of bees.
Mi7 medics found a 74-year-old man with more than 100 stings to his head, face, chest, arms, and legs. Advanced Life Support interventions were administered to stabilize him, before he was taken to hospital for further treatment.
According to witnesses, the man was walking on the road when he was swarmed by the bees. He tried to run away, but the bees followed, stinging him repeatedly. In a final attempt to escape, the man jumped into a nearby stream.
Witnesses assisted the man and provided treatment to him until medics arrived.
