The EMPD continues with road safety awareness in the Daveyton and Duduza areas

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department Social Crime Prevention Unit (SCPU) Officers, continued to engage members of the communities, at the Chris Hani and extension 15 taxi rank, in the Daveyton and Duduza areas.

The City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) has been experiencing a rapid increase, in the number of road fatalities in recent weeks and road accidents/crashes, are on the rise. Preliminary statistics shows that, pedestrian motor vehicle accidents, are topping the charts and an engagement of this nature, was mandatory and necessary. Officers visited Chris Hani Play Park, to educate children on road safety and how to make use, of the pedestrian crossings at all times.

Furthermore, at the extension 15 Taxi Rank, situated in the Duduza area, drivers were workshopped, on road safety. A stern focus was placed on drivers to be vigilant and always, to be on the lookout for pedestrians, using the roadway when crossing over. Drivers were also encouraged, to always exercise caution particularly, at night.

The EMPD will continue, to have such engagements with communities throughout the City of Ekurhuleni, to help reduce the number of road accidents and fatalities, this festive season.
