A 52-year-old foreign national man was arrested for possession of explosives used for ATM bombings

On 03 January 2024, a team consisting of members of Crime Intelligence and West Rand K9 followed up on information at Carletonville about a man in possession of explosives reportedly used for ATM bombings.

Upon arrival at the said place, the identified man and the premises were searched and 500m of detonating cord, 33 blasting cartridges and nine shock tube detonators were found hidden in a vehicle.

The 52-year-old foreign national man was arrested for possession of explosives and he is expected to appear before Carletonville Magistrates’ court soon.
