Earlier this morning, just before 6am, after responding to an alarm activation at an Armed Response client’s premises in Howick, Mi7 Reaction Officers were flagged down by a woman who reported she had been mugged for her cellphone.
Reaction Officers got to work, getting information relating to the suspect’s description and the direction in which he fled. A widespread search of the area then ensued. A short while later, a man matching the description was spotted near a taxi rank in the area.
He was found in possession of the stolen cellphone, escorted back to the area where the incident happened, and was positively identified by the woman.
He was then taken to the Howick police station where the matter was handed over for further investigation.
