At approximately 15:30 pm CERT volunteers were alerted to an informal settlement on fire in the Tongaat area.
CERT volunteers together with emergency services were dispatched and upon arrival found that shacks were well alighted. The fire spread quickly however was brought under control before by fire department. A total of 4 informal dwellings were burnt. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported on scene. Thank you to Ethekwini Fire Department and CERT volunteers for the quick response.
