A 33-year-old male suspect who allegedly murdered a 25 year-old male on Saturday, 13 January 2024 at Refiloe Section, Mamaila village was nabbed in Bolobedu policing area under Mopani District.
The police received a complaint about a man who was wounded in the vicinity and rushed to the area. On their arrival, they found the victim seriously injured and unable to speak.
An ambulance was summoned to the scene, and the victim was transported to Nkhesani hospital for medical assistance.
Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to his injuries while being admitted at the hospital.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased used to come to the shop regularly and take the items from the shop without paying while on the same breath threatened the shopkeeper.
On Saturday, 13 January 2024, the deceased repeated, the practice of taking items without paying, and the shopkeeper allegedly hacked him with a sharp instrument.
After the incident, the shopkeeper closed the shop and fled the scene.
A manhunt for the suspect was launched, and he was ultimately apprehended on Sunday, 14 January 2024.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Bolobedu Magistrate court soon to face charges of murder.
