Mi7 National Group’s Armed Response has recently dealt with several cases involving the theft of brushcutters from KZN properties. Reaction Officers have since caught a number of suspects involved.
For example, last week, Mi7 National Group received a request for assistance from a community security group in Northdale. According to reports, a suspect had broken into a local primary school on Wednesday, and fled with a brushcutter. Community members were able to provide a description of the suspect.
Mi7 Reaction Officers were immediately dispatched to the area, and conducted a widespread search. Their investigation led them to the suspect’s home, but he was not there.
Relentless in their pursuit, Reaction Officers picked up the trail the next day and had a breakthrough, eventually spotting the suspect with the stolen item. The suspect was swiftly apprehended. The matter was handed over to the police for further investigation.
Then, today, Mi7 Reaction Officers received information on the whereabouts of a suspect who allegedly stole a brushcutter and other gardening tools in Port Shepstone. The information led Reaction Officers to a nearby informal settlement where a widespread search ensued. The suspect was found, apprehended, and admitted to the crime. He then pointed out where the stolen items were being kept.
The victim positively identified the suspect and chose not to report the matter to the police. His items were returned and the suspect was let go with a warning.
