Members of the SAPS Public Order Policing (POP) unit in Kimberley seized 470 rounds of ammunition during random patrols executed in Kimberley.
On Tuesday, 23 January 2024 at approximately 10:00, members of the Kimberley POP unit were busy with routine Safer Festive Season operations when they spotted two suspicious looking males walking in the road at the Samaria informal settlement near the R64 in Kimberley.
The suspects saw the approaching police and allegedly dropped the plastic bag and fled into the informal settlement and escaped through the shanties.
Police searched the plastic shopping bag and found several rounds of ammunition.
The two suspects were dark in complexion and wearing blue overalls and yellow T- shirts. No arrests were effected.
The proliferation of firearms and ammunition remains a priority for the SAPS and the police request that anyone with information about the suspects to immediately contact their nearest police station, call Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or make use of the My SAPS App.
Police also request that the public do not approach these suspects as they are presumed to be armed and dangerous.
