Two suspects were arrested and one vehicle was recovered.
The Fidelity Business Intelligence (FBI) Centre received an alert of a Volkswagen Polo that entered the West Rand area.
This rental vehicle was previously loaded on the VumaCam system for ATM scamming. The FBIC also alerted the ground teams who spotted the stationery vehicle at an FNB in Goldman St, Florida.
The team then noticed two suspects acting suspiciously around community members at the ATM. As the suspects returned to their vehicle, a takedown was done. Footage was viewed at FNB and it was confirmed that one of the customers was scammed.
The vehicle was successfully apprehended, and the two suspects were detained at Florida SAPS.
An undisclosed amount of cash and the victim’s bank card was also recovered.
