The law enforcement agencies continue with their efforts to address illegal mining activities in affected areas in Gauteng

The West Rand District conducted theirs at Kagiso and Krugersdorp areas. The operation resulted in the arrest of 12 people including seven undocumented persons.

While in Ekurhuleni, the operation was conducted in Crystal Park policing area. A person was arrested for possession of an unlincesed firearm which belonged to Metro Police. Several tools of illegal mining were seized in both operations.

The arrested suspects are expected to appear before courts soon on different charges.
