Police officers attached to Highway Patrol Unit and Flying Squad responded swiftly to a complaint of five suspects who had just robbed a family their belongings and two vehicles in Oakdene, South of Johannesburg on Wednesday, 06 March 2024.
The police received information that the suspects were driving the victim’s cars towards Soweto and rushed to the area. The cars were spotted in Chris Hani Road, and high-speed chase ensued. The suspect, who was driving an Audi A3, jumped out of the car while shooting at the police. The police returned fire, and the suspect was fatally wounded.
The firearm used by the suspect was found at the scene. Both cars and goods taken during the house robbery were recovered.
Police are on the lookout for the suspects who are still at large.
