Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) Drug Unit members conducted an operation with other law enforcement officers on Wednesday, 6 March 2024. The operation led to the arrest of three African males for possession of suspected stolen copper cables in Hammanskraal. The three were in possession of 13 metre of copper cable which they could not account for.
Another operation was conducted on the same date in Temba, Hammanskraal by TMPD members, together with the South African Police Service and other law enforcement agencies. The operation focused on school searches to ensure the safety of all school learners.
While searches were conducted at one school, some learners threw space cookies and screwdrivers out the windows. Some learners were also reported to be gambling during school hours.
On Thursday, 7 March 2024, the TMPD conducted school searches in Soshanguve. Some learners were found with broken mirrors and boxes of matches which had traces of dagga, among other things.
Learners who are found with these items will face disciplinary procedures that are followed by the school.
