The family of a 62-year-old pensioner believe that he was murdered and his body has been disposed off from his home in Maphumulo – KZN.
The sister of Jabulani Gumede (pictured) arrived at RUSA Headquarters this afternoon (Wednesday) requesting assistance to locate him. She informed Reaction Offices that her brother lived alone in a rural area. On Sunday (31/03/2024), his girlfriend attempted making telephone contact with him but was unsuccessful. She thereafter requested assistance from his neighbour to conduct a wellness check.
They discovered a pool of blood and his sleepwear in the yard. A window leading into the house was broken. A rope from the washing line and a blanket was missing. The residence was also ransacked. Gumede’s cellphone rang continuously and went unanswered until Monday. The phone was then diverted to voicemail and has remained switched off since.
Reaction Officers also telephonically interviewed the son of the missing man who is currently residing in Cape Town – Western Cape. He advised Reaction Officers that he believed that his father was murdered and his body was bound in a blanket & removed from the property. He added that his father was pursuing criminal charges against a neighbour for theft and his dad has since received death threats. The information was supplied by Gumede’s family and cannot be confirmed by Reaction Officers.
