The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Social Crime Prevention Unit (SCPU) Officers, conducted a scholar patrol training at Dunnottar Primary School, in the Nigel area.
The EMPD Officers, in conjunction with the Gauteng Traffic Police, proceeded to Dunnottar Primary School to engage learners, on road safety and scholar patrol training. As part of road safety at schools to create awareness of scholar transport, to improve compliance with road traffic laws.
Officers placed a stern focus on learners, who will be controlling traffic in their absence. Training was given, on how to accompany and assist fellow learners to cross over the pedestrian crossing, what hand signals to use, and the importance of wearing full uniform when executing scholar patrol duties.
Learners showed positive energy towards this initiative and committed to be dedicated, to ensuring road safety at schools.
The EMPD will continue to roll out initiatives of this nature, to improve road safety at schools.
