A 16-year-old male was arrested by Reaction Officers for burglary in Amoutana – KZN during the early hours of this morning.
The Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Operations Centre received a tipoff of a burglary in progress at a tuckshop operating out of a house. Reaction Officers were immediately dispatched and on arrival at approximately 00:12, noticed one suspect exiting a hole in the roof.
The male re-entered the house after he realised that the property was surrounded. The owner of the business was requested at the scene. Officers entered the premises on his arrival and arrested the suspect.
During an interview, it was established that the burglar was a teenager. He was found in possession of a packet containing clothing. He informed Officers that he had stolen the garments which were drying on a washing line from a property in the area.
The suspect was handed over to the Verulam SAPS.
