Two adult males are expected to appear in court on Monday 10 June 2024 following their arrest on Friday 07 June 2024 on charges of possession of unlicensed and prohibited firearms and ammunition in isolated incidents.
Grassy Park police conducted patrols in the policing precinct on Friday 07 June when they saw a suspicious man in Starlin Road. They stopped and searched the man upon which they confiscated a pistol with ammunition in his possession. They detained the adult male on a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Meanwhile an investigating officer, deployed in Lwandle, was busy with tracing operations in the early hours of Friday 07 June 2024 when he approached an identified address in the informal settlement after they operationalised all the information at their disposal and approached the address with reinforcements. Upon arrival, they took action to gain entry and detained an adult male when he was found in possession of a .38 special revolver. He faces a charge of possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.
One charged the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Wynberg and Strand Magistrates’ courts on the mentioned charges.
