On Thursday evening after Responding to a copper theft incident on Stonebridge an alert was received on Greenbury were a suspect attempted to gain entry into a premises but was disturbed as the electric fence alarm triggered.
This alarm triggered alerted street patrol officers who engaged in a chase on foot with the African male suspect. As KZNVIP Officers joined in the chase, the suspect fled into the bush at the corners of tower road and greenbury corner.
An Unmarked vehicle was deployed with a specialized team who circled the area as the suspect exited through a nearby Cardinal Road. KZNVIP Specialized Team effected the apprehension of the suspect on Stonebridge as he tried to escape to the informal settlement Polar park.
After having secured the suspect a knife was found in his possession and the suspect was positively identified by a few residents and also the Security Officers who engaged in the chase but unfortunately no complainant wanted to come forward and submit a statement to effect the arrest.
After all efforts the suspect was released unharmed, he also confessed to knowing the 2nd suspect who is also wanted in the area.
