Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety meeting held to ensure seamless and smooth transition

The MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Violet Mathye, in a handover meeting with the Head of Department, Mr Stephen Matjena.

The engagement is meant to ensure a seamless and smooth transition, as the newly appointed MEC takes over the reins of the Department of Transport and Community Safety, for the 7th administration since the democratic dispensation.
With many years as a Chairperson and member of various Portfolio Committees in the Provincial Legislature, the MEC has emphasised ‘compliance and clean governance’ as central, to effective service delivery’.

Being one of the longest serving members of the Provincial Legislature, MEC Mathye has interfaced a lot with the work of this Department, and has hit the ‘ground running’.

She is not entirely new to the Department, as she has been a part of its Committee and ANC Study Group, in the
Legislature.

She has been the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Education in the Legislature, during the 6th administration, and she defines this role, ‘as a good preparatory platform’ towards her current position.
