An extensive aerial search was conducted over Inanda and Ntuzma – KZN in attempt to locate 57-year-old Ajith Durga who went missing yesterday (Wednesday).
Durga was driving a white Toyota Hilux single cab bakkie which was recovered abandoned near Inanda Dam – KZN last night. His wallet was recovered in the vehicle but his ATM cards were missing. Analysis of his vehicle tracking report indicated that the bakkie made stops in Ntumzuma – KZN before travelling to Inanda – KZN where it was abandoned.
The Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Robinson R44 Helicopter lifted off at approximately 09:51 and routed to F Section in Ntuzuma – KZN where a low level flight was conducted over dense vegetation in the area.
The aircraft thereafter proceeded to Inanda – KZN where Durga’s company vehicle was recovered. An extensive aerial search was conducted of rivers, tributaries and ravines in the area. The Pilot and Crew landed to assist approximately forty seven (47) of Durga’s work colleagues from Ganga Plumbers to conduct a ground search.
The search has not yielded any positive results.
