Committed to keep the communities safe, police members arrested two males on charges of possession of prohibited firearms and ammunition as well as dealing in drugs.
Police members attached to Operation Restore conducted high-density operations in Belhar policing precinct on Wednesday 03 July 2024 when the members proceeded to an address in Foucault Street in Belhar where they searched the entire premises and the occupants. During the search the members found a male in possession of a firearm with ammunition, drugs and cash. They detained the adult male on a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition and dealing in drugs.
Meanwhile, Kraaifontein police was busy with crime combatting activities in Wallacedene in the early hours of Thursday 04 July 2024 when their attention was drawn to an unknown man who acted suspiciously in Mildred Street. They followed the suspect on foot as he fled into a nearby house. The members continued to search the property during which they confiscated a firearm with ammunition. They detained the adult male on a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Once charged, the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Bellville and Blue Downs Magistrates’ courts on the mentioned charges.
