Limpopo Provincial Commissioner lauds successes achieved during weekly high-density operation following the arrest of over 400 suspects

In a concerted effort to combat crime and ensure the safety of residents of Limpopo province, police have apprehended 498 suspects during the latest iteration of weekly high-density Operation Shanela, conducted between 01 July and 07 July 2024.

This past week’s operation saw intensified efforts across all five districts. Among the 498 suspects apprehended, charges range from serious offenses such as attempted murder, and assault to various property crimes and violations of immigration laws. Significant seizures of drugs, illegal ammunition, stolen property, illegal explosives, and cash were also made, contributing to the overall success of the operation.

The Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has expressed pride in the dedication and professionalism demonstrated by the SAPS members involved in this operation.
