The Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner. Lieutenant General Nomthetheleli Mene has expressed shock and horror on the murder of a two-year-old boy in Crossroad Village outside Peddie on Monday 08 July 2024.
On Monday 08 July 2024 at about 22:00, police were alerted by members of the community about a 41-year-old female who assaulted and set alight her son.
On police arrival, they found the body of a two-year-old boy who was assaulted and burned to death. It is alleged that the mother assaulted her child in front of her seven-year-old daughter sibling, who alerted the community. The daughter is now in the custody of a family member. The mother was arrested on Monday 08 July 2024 on charges of murder.
The suspect is appearing at Peddie Magistrate Court today.
