Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) has attended to nine (9) callouts at the Farmers Market in Verulam – KZN in the past ten days (1-10 July 2024).
Robberies, Theft of Motor Vehicles, Theft of Mobile Phones & Theft by Snatching have been reported by shoppers in the vicinity of the Market & visitors to the Vehicle Licencing Department located on Wick Street in the Verulam CBD.
In all cases the victim is attacked by a suspect seated on the boundary wall of the market. Prior to the attacks the car guards disappear & appear immediately after the robbery offering assistance for a fee. These guards claim to know the perpetrators and offer to point out the suspects for cash. They then take the money and pretend to be searching for the suspect. Shoppers are warned to be on high alert.
