A body burnt beyond recognition was recovered this afternoon (Tuesday) in a vacant private property off Crescent Place in Brindhaven – KZN.
A member of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) was flagged down by a female at approximately 15:02. The woman and her husband who was in the area searching for a property to rent, was informed by a passerby that he has seen a body in a large piece of vacant land that bordered Brindhaven/Oaklands/Dawncrest. The passerby left prior to arrival of First Responders.
Several Reaction Officers responded to assist and located the area after a short walk. The body of an adult male was discovered lying face up with both his feet missing. Several pieces of wooden planks were placed between his arms and body believed to have been set alight to burn the victim. The bush had caught fire as a result and burnt for hundreds of meters.
One foot was recovered near the body after Reaction Officers searched the area.
