A 33-year-old male Educator arrested for dealing and possession of drugs including an unlicensed firearm in Polokwane CBD

The members of the Limpopo Provincial Flying Squad are continuously strengthening the fight against an alarming increase of illegal drug related activities across the province.

Evidently, a 33-year-old male Educator was nabbed for dealing, possession of drugs and an unlicensed firearm with ammunition while police were busy conducting patrol duties in the Capricorn District hotspots on Tuesday 16 July 2024.

At about 13:00, police received information about a silver VW Polo motor vehicle suspected to be distributing and selling drugs in Polokwane Central Business District (CBD). Police immediately rushed to the area and commenced with the search of the motor vehicle until it was positively located and tactically cornered at General Piet Joubert and Rissik streets.

The motor vehicle with one occupant was searched and police discovered money, drugs with an estimated street value of R20 000-00 together with an unlicensed firearm and ammunition concealed inside it.

The suspect was immediately placed under arrest at the scene and his motor vehicle utilized in the commission of the crime impounded afterward.

The Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has praised the SAPS members for their continued effort to combat drug-related crime in the province “Such educators who are in drugs cannot be entrusted with the education of our children, we call for the Department to take harsh measures and remove such from the system and its payroll” Concluded the Provincial Commissioner.

The 33-year-old suspect is expected to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate court soon facing a charge of dealing, possession of drugs and an unlicensed firearm with ammunition.

Police investigations are continuing.
