The swift response and vigilance by members of the Makhaza Crime Prevention Unit led to the arrest of an adult male for possession of a hijacked vehicle, possession of presumed stolen property and possession of a dangerous weapon on Tuesday, 16 July 2024.

The members were busy with crime prevention duties when the SAPS automated number plate recognition system recognized a white Toyota Yaris that was hijacked. The members tried to stop the vehicle but the driver sped off and police members gave chase.
