A partially naked body recovered on a farm in Canelands – KZN has been identified as twenty-year-old Inam Tshakeni who was reported missing at Sydenham SAPS last week.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call from a farmer on Tuesday (16 July 2024) reporting that a pair of legs were seen protruding from a blanket. Reaction Officers arrived on scene and reported the details/description for circulation. The brightly coloured hair and clothing description as reported by the attending Reaction Officers led the family to believe that the unidentified body was of Eastern Cape resident and trainee Pilot Inam Tshakeni. The family visted the RUSA Headquarters and the Investigating Officer and later identified the body.
According to family, Tshakeni left a bar/tavern in the Sydenham and Reservoir Hills area in Kwazulu Natal on Saturday morning after having drinks with a male. The family added that they received information that Tshakeni was seen arguing with a man on several occasions on the same day & that she drove off in a vehicle with the unknown man as the passenger. Tshakeni was in possession of a Learner Drivers License. Reaction Officers could not immediately verify this information.
Detectives from SAPS Sydenham made contact with RUSA Officers this morning (Thursday 07:32) confirming that the body was identified.
