The family of 33-year-old Sphelele Mzwandile Vukuthi also known as Pele is requesting public assistance to locate him.
Vukuthi is employed at a mine in Welkom – Free State. He was expected to travel with public transport to his home in Nqabeni in Bizana – Eastern Cape on Sunday to visit his family, but he failed to arrive. On Wednesday, he made telephonic contact with his wife informing her that he was kidnapped and that she needed to deposit R8000 into an E-Wallet account in order for him to be released.
The call was then terminated. His wife received a second call from him the following day with the same request. There has since been no further communication with him.
