Anti-gang unit apprehends suspect for drug possession and bribery at Watervaal flats

During a routine patrol at Watervaal Flats, members of the Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) observed a suspicious motor vehicle, a red Hyundai i10, exiting the premises. Acting promptly, the AGU members stopped the vehicle on the Main road. The vehicle had only one male occupant.

Upon granting permission to search the vehicle, no illegal items were found. However, the driver himself was subjected to a search, which resulted in the discovery of nine (9) ziplock bags containing crystal methamphetamine (meth) in his possession. The driver attempted to bribe the AGU members with money in exchange for his freedom.

Immediately recognizing the gravity of the offence, the AGU members placed the driver under arrest for possession of drugs and bribery. The suspect was subsequently transported to the nearest police station, where he is currently detained.

The suspect will face charges related to drug possession and bribery and is set to appear before the respective court during the course of the week.

The Unit Commander, Brigadier Maphoto commended the dedication of the AGU members. He applauded their honesty and commitment to executing their duties in line with the standards set out by the Anti-Gang Unit.
