Police in Dennilton have apprehended six male suspects following a high-speed pursuit

Police in Dennilton have apprehended six male suspects aged between 28 and 42 following a high-speed pursuit. The incident, which occurred at Matlala Lehwelere village on Sunday, 21 July 2024 , resulted in the recovery of three firearms and ammunition believed to be linked to recent criminal activities in the area.

During a co-ordinated operation, the detectives and members of Crime Prevention responded swiftly to information about a suspicious vehicle in Kgobokwane village with six occupants, including a suspect who has been on the run in connection with a case of assault GBH committed in May.

A speed chase ensued between the police and the suspects up to Matlala Lehwelere, where the suspects jumped out of the vehicle and ran towards different directions.

The relentless pursuit of the officers culminated in the apprehension of all suspects involved and the recovery of the three firearms as well as ammunition.

The recovered firearms will undergo forensic analysis to determine their connection to previous criminal incidents.

The suspects will appear before Moutse Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 23 July 2024 facing charge s relating to unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition. The suspect on a charge of assault GBH will also appear in the same court.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has lauded the swift arrest of suspects and recovery of the firearms, stating that the commendable achievement is a significant breakthrough in the ongoing battle against proliferation of illegal firearms in Sekhukhune district in particular and the province at large.
