The Gauteng Police Service, in collaboration with the Provincial Intelligence Collection Identified Threats and Special Operations Team, Provincial ATM Bombing Team, National Intervention Unit, Highway Patrol, FNB and ABSA Investigations has successfully linked three suspects to a series of ATM bombings.
The operation, which took place on Monday July 22 2024, was the result of a thorough intelligence-led investigation. The suspects, aged between 28 and 39, were arrested in Senekal, by Free State police, on Friday, 19 July 2024 and brought to Gauteng for questioning.
During the investigation, two unlicensed firearms with live ammunition were recovered.
The arrested suspects are facing charges related to ATM bombing and possession of unlicensed firearms.
