Motorsport has played a crucial role for Ford in South Africa over the past 100 years. From the Model T and Model A, to all the vehicles that followed, much of the passion, support, and love for the Ford brand has been fuelled by its success in various categories of racing in South Africa.
The locally produced Ranger is central to Ford’s product portfolio in South Africa, so it’s logical that the current focus in motorsport is based around the Ranger. The Neil Woolridge Motorsport (NWM) team, in Pietermaritzburg KwaZulu Natal, enhances the Ranger’s reputation for capability, performance, and durability by competing in the premier class of the South African Rally Raid Championship (SARRC).
Their latest success came in 2023 as the reigning Overall Production Vehicle and Class T1+ SARRC champions, with Gareth Woolridge and Boyd Dreyer securing both titles last year.
